LifeStreams Spirituality Centre

LifeStreams offers a place for rest, relaxation and reflection in the midst of a busy life.  LifeStreams is a Centre for Spirituality run by the Southern Community Church of Christ and seeks to serve a broad and diverse community - faith communities, neighbourhood networks, the business sector and more.

Some of the resources offered by LifeStreams are:

* Spiritual Direction

Explore

Spiritual Direction encourages you to explore a closer relationship with God. In the midst of a busy life, many people find it difficult to notice God's action in their daily acitivities.  Yet, at the deepest level, all of us long for a more conscious experience of God's presence and love.

Discerning God's presence

In Spiritual Direction, you reflect deeply on the experiences of your daily life. Gradually, as you contemplate, you may begin to recognise God's presence and grace in your life.  You may come to realise how God's spirit is truly with you everyday and everywhere. You discover that God has been waiting for you to seek this closer relationship.

Spiritual Direction is really not about being "directed". Rather, it is very much about being encouraged to draw closer to God.  Spiritual Direction invites you into this relationship whether you attend a church, mosque, synagogue, temple or none of these.  God seeks you where you are and Spiritual Directors come in all faiths.

Gifts of Spiritual Direction

You might come to Spiritual Direction for a variety of reasons, including to:

  • Identify and trust your own experiences of God
  • Integrate spirituality into your daily life
  • Discern and make difficult choices
  • Share struggles, losses and disappointments
  • Find encouragement and affirmation
  • Grow in relationhsip with God, self, others and creation

The privilege and responsibility of a Spiritual Director is to journey with you as you deepen your relationship with God. The journey takes place in the context of confidential one-on-one sessions with your Spiritual Director.

LifeStreams' Spiritual Directors have extensive training and formation and are well practised in the art of Spiritual Direction. Spiritual Directors continue tending the spiritual life by engaging in ongoing education, confidential supervisions and also meeting regularly with their own Spiritual Directors.

* Massage & Myotherapy

Therapeutic massage performed by qualified masseurs are an integral part of the LifeStreams program.  Massage and myotherapy can be tailored to your personal needs, offering assistance with relaxation and stress relief, recovery from injury, rehabilitation after surgery or trauma, maintenance of health and fitness.  Massage can be partneredwith meditation and/or spiritual direction sessions for maximum benefit.

Sessions can be tailored for your individual needs.  Sessions can run from 20 minutes to two hours depending on your workplace. The following is an example of sessions we can bring to your workplace.

* Meditation

Meditation can be designed specifically for the needs of individuals or groups.  It may take the form of a guided meditation, it may include periods of silent contemplation, it may include opportunity for creative expression, it may focus on music or art, or take many other forms of expression. Ultimately, the aim is to offer space for gentle reflection and faciltiatge an experience of peace and relaxation.

* Contemplation

Taking time out to focus on what is really important in your life is very valuable.  LifeStreams offers time and space to do this.  Contemplative services vary in length and can be tailored to your individual needs, including one-off programs for specific purposes such as defining life or work goals, reflecting on areas for growth, discerning healthy work/life balance, etc.
